Law Firm vs Referred by: two different fields

Law Firm is the organization a referral is credited to; Referred by is the person who sent it.

Who can do this: Admin, Nurse Case Manager, Internal Case Manager

Law Firm: the organization

Law Firm is the firm the referral counts under. It is what the Law Firm column and filter on Referrals use, and what the Referrals count on Contacts > Law Firms adds up.

Pick it from your list of law firms. Referrals sent through the referral portal are credited to the partner's own organization automatically.

Referred by: the person

Referred by is the person who actually sent the referral, chosen from Contacts > Referral Sources. It isn't only attorneys: a referral source can be a physician, an adjuster, a case manager and more.

It has its own Referred by filter on Referrals, and the Referrals count on Contacts > Referral Sources opens the list filtered to that person.

Keeping the two apart stops a person's name from turning into a law firm record by mistake.

And the Legal Representation fields?

Law Office, Attorney and the other boxes under Legal Representation are the patient's legal details as text. They are copied onto the patient record when you create the case.

They can name a different firm than Law Firm. For example, a physician can refer a patient who has their own attorney.

Where you see each one

On the referral page, the Source card shows Submitted By (the login that entered it), Organization (the law firm) and Referred By (the person).

In the referral list, the small name under the firm is the login that entered the referral.
